Lesson guide

SampleFill, 25%BadgePaste, then 35%
Demonstration: Sample settings are copied once. Editing Badge afterward does not link the layers.
  1. Extract this lesson into its own folder. Open settings-start.lzrproj. Badge starts with Line, 600 mm/min, 40% and one pass.
  2. Select Sample. It uses Fill, 1200 mm/min, 25%, two passes, with a 1 mm interval. Click Copy layer settings at the top of Layers.
  3. Select Badge, then click Paste layer settings. This replaces its operation settings; its name, color and artwork remain intact.
  4. Check Badge now uses the copied Fill values. Change only Badge Power to 35%. Select Sample and confirm it remains at 25%.
  5. Preview with Show Travel off and Go to end. Both shapes should be filled, with no duplicated or moved artwork.
  6. Save a separate copy and compare with settings-finished.lzrproj.

Independent practice

Open settings-practice.lzrproj from this lesson's folder. Copy Sample settings to Badge, then change only Badge Power to 20%. Sample should remain at 30%.

  • Both layers should finish with Fill, 900 mm/min, two passes and a 1.5 mm interval.
  • Keep each layer's name, color and object membership. Do not move or duplicate either shape.
  • Save a separate copy and compare with settings-practice-answer.lzrproj.
  • Which layer should be selected when you click Paste layer settings?
  • If Badge is edited after pasting, should Sample change?
  • Which values must you inspect after replacing destination settings?

Explained answer

Practice answer
Sample: Fill, 900 mm/min, 30%, two passes, 1.5 mm interval. Badge: the same settings except 20% power.
Demonstration answer
Sample remains at 25%; Badge is 35%. Both use Fill, 1200 mm/min, two passes and 1 mm interval.
Copy is independent
Paste replaces operation settings on the selected destination. It does not duplicate artwork or make a live link. Check Mode, both Output controls and all values afterward.
  • settings-start.lzrproj

Demo starter: ellipse on Sample and rectangle on Badge.

  • settings-finished.lzrproj

Demo answer with Badge independently changed to 35%.

  • settings-practice.lzrproj

Independent starter: rectangle on Sample and ellipse on Badge.

  • settings-practice-answer.lzrproj

Independent answer with Sample 30% and Badge 20%.

This pack has the same generic settings filenames as the speed lesson. Keep the two packs in separate folders. Each supplied native copy has its own project identity.
