Written guide

Prepare a separate outline job with the opening before the outside edge.

Lesson guide

EngraveShown; Output offOpeningLine firstOutside edgeLine last
Separate engraving and cutting copies. Preview the opening before the outer boundary.
  1. Open name-tag-cut-start.lzrproj while disconnected with No Machine selected. Turn Engrave main Output off, leaving Show on.
  2. Select the blue Blank guide layer, enable its main Output, and keep Line. The completed example names this layer Cut.
  3. Turn Air Assist on for that outline operation. Its physical effect depends on your profile, controller and configured hardware.
  4. In Run > Optimization, turn on Enable and Cut inner shapes first, then click OK.
  5. Preview with Show Travel off and Show Progress on. Go to start and step through: the opening should run before the outside; no lettering should appear.
  6. Save a separate copy and compare with name-tag-cut-finished.lzrproj. Keep the original engraving version.

Independent practice

Open name-tag-cut-practice.lzrproj. Exclude Engrave, enable the blue outline in Line mode with Air Assist, and enable Cut inner shapes first.

  • Keep all artwork geometry intact and shown. The example answer labels the blue processing layer Cut.
  • Preview from the start to inspect the opening before the outside edge. Save separately and compare with name-tag-cut-practice-answer.lzrproj.
  • Which main Output switch prevents a second engraving?
  • Why check the order before cutting the outside?
  • Does switching Air Assist on prove air is physically flowing?

Explained answers and files

Practice output
Engrave main Output off. The blue Cut layer is on in Line mode with Air Assist enabled.
Order
Optimization is enabled with inner shapes first. The opening runs before the outside so the part stays supported for the inner cut.
Machine checks
No software switch proves physical airflow or cutting quality. Use settings tested on the actual material and confirm your configured equipment.
  • name-tag-cut-finished.lzrproj

Saved demonstration setup, not a completed physical result.

  • name-tag-cut-practice-answer.lzrproj

Compare saved fields and artwork after your attempt.

  • name-tag-cut-practice.lzrproj

    Independent starter for this lesson.

  • name-tag-cut-start.lzrproj

    Follow the demonstrated setup.

For a later cut, keep stock fixed, verify reference/profile/placement, air, focus, ventilation and eye protection, then frame and supervise. Inspect the cut before lifting the part; the saved answer cannot prove it cut through.

Matches the demonstrated Beam Bench 0.2.37 controls and the corrected ending where applicable. Later panel layouts may differ.
