Written guide

Keep a machine-specific before-start reference and reason through three offline setup cases.

Before a real job

ProtectionRated protectionStoppingPhysical procedureCareIsolate as directed
Check protection, stopping and maintenance against the exact machine instructions before operation.
  1. Use the enclosure, controlled area and interlocks required by the exact machine. Keep other people and pets out of the work area.
  2. Check protective glasses against the required wavelength and protection rating. Tint or inclusion in the box does not establish suitable protection.
  3. Check extraction before firing. Air assist delivers air near a cut; extraction removes fumes. They have different jobs.
  4. Use identified permitted materials. Keep PVC, PVC-based vinyl and unknown plastics out. Do not use a trial burn to identify stock.
  5. Check the specified bed and backing, secure flat stock, and allow clearance for the whole head and all travel. Preview does not model clamp height.
  6. Know the physical stop and emergency shutdown procedure. Stay beside a running laser. Follow the machine-specific fire plan and resolve causes before restarting.

Three review cases

Answer without connecting or operating a machine.

  • Air assist is fitted, but extraction is unavailable. Is the setup ready? Explain.
  • Preview paths avoid a tall clamp in plan view. What clearance evidence is still needed?
  • A job was stopped in Beam Bench. Can Resume continue it? What checks precede a later Start?

Answers and care log

Air and extraction
Air assist cannot replace required extraction. Resolve the missing extraction before a run.
Clamp clearance
Check the actual head, fixture height and full travel area using the machine procedure.
Stop versus pause
Stop cancels the job. Resume continues a paused live job, not a cancelled one. A new run needs a fresh setup and workpiece review.

For kit checks and maintenance, isolate power as directed. Use the maker's frame, belt, guide, cable, lens/window and cleaning procedures. Keep debris from accumulating. A generic solvent or belt adjustment is not universal.
