Written guide
Choose one anchor for a complete layout and understand why live position matters.
Lesson guide
- Open current-position-start.lzrproj in Design. Select both plates with Cmd + A on Mac or Ctrl + A on Windows/Linux.
- Properties shows a combined 40 x 24 mm layout. Each plate is 16 mm wide; the gap is 8 mm.
- Clear selection and switch to Run. Choose Current Position in Start From, then Bottom left for Job Origin.
- The chosen corner of the whole included layout is aligned to the live head location. The plates keep their spacing.
- Click Preview while disconnected and read the position requirement. Saving an anchor does not supply a current head position.
- Save a separate copy and compare with current-position-ready.lzrproj. It saves the mode and Bottom left, not the physical head location.
Independent practice
Open current-position-practice.lzrproj. Set Current Position with Top right for Job Origin. Save a separate copy and compare with current-position-practice-answer.lzrproj.
- Keep both 14 x 18 mm plates and their 8 mm gap unchanged. The combined layout is 36 x 18 mm.
- Use the diagram and saved fields for this disconnected exercise; a fresh live-position Preview is unavailable.
- Which bounds does Top right describe?
- If the head moves before planning, what happens to placement?
- Does reopening the file restore the physical head location?
Explained answers and files
- Practice geometry
- Two 14 x 18 mm plates plus the 8 mm gap make one 36 x 18 mm layout.
- Practice fields
- Current Position and Top right. The whole layout shares that anchor.
- Live position
- The target follows the reported head position when the plan is prepared. The file does not store or restore that live position.
