Written guide
Create editable lettering while keeping the blank guide out of the engraving plan.
Lesson guide
- Open name-tag-start.lzrproj and stay disconnected with No Machine selected. The blue Blank guide is 80 x 30 mm with an 8 mm opening; its main Output is off.
- Select black Engrave before adding Text. Use Arial, Bold, 12 mm. Type NATHAN and press Escape to finish editing.
- With the text selected, choose the center reference in Properties and enter X 165, Y 185. Check clearance from every edge and the opening.
- Inspect Engrave's Fill settings. Keep the guide shown and excluded by main Output; the example values are not a material recipe.
- Preview with Show Travel off. Only the name should appear. Also inspect travel/overscan, then close Preview.
- Save a separate engraving copy and compare with name-tag-engrave-finished.lzrproj. Keep it distinct from the later cutting setup.
Independent practice
Open name-tag-practice.lzrproj. Add MAKER as editable Arial Bold text at 12 mm. Use the center Properties reference and set X 170, Y 182.5.
- Keep Blank guide shown with main Output off and Engrave Output on.
- Check the full word clears the opening and all edges. Preview only the lettering.
- Save your own copy and compare with name-tag-practice-answer.lzrproj.
- Which layer should contain the editable name?
- Which paths should be absent from the engraving Preview?
- What could differ if Arial is unavailable on another computer?
Explained answers and files
- Practice lettering
- MAKER, Arial Bold, 12 mm; center Properties coordinates X 170 / Y 182.5.
- Included output
- Only Engrave lettering. The blue outside outline and opening remain guides and must be excluded.
- Text portability
- The answers retain editable text and saved outlines, not a bundled Arial font. Font substitution or later editing may change the appearance; recheck clearance.

A later physical engraving requires your verified profile/reference, fixed stock, tested settings, focus, ventilation, eye protection and framing. Inspect the lettering before another run; keep the stock fixed for a later cut.
Matches the demonstrated Beam Bench 0.2.37 controls and the corrected ending where applicable. Later panel layouts may differ.
