Demonstration readings. This illustration shows geometry, not saved dimension objects.
  1. Open measure-start.lzrproj. Choose Measure in the left toolbar, then Linear in Properties.
  2. Click the large rectangle's top-left corner and top-right corner. Length should read 80.00 mm.
  3. Press Escape to clear the line. Click top-left, then bottom-right. Length is 100.00 mm, Horizontal 80.00 mm, Vertical 60.00 mm.
  4. Choose Gap and click inside the two rectangles. Minimum gap is 20.00 mm. Compare with measure-demo-check.png.

Independent practice

Open measure-practice-start.lzrproj. Measure the larger rectangle's width, height and diagonal using Linear, then the closest gap using Gap.

  • Width:
  • Height:
  • Diagonal length, Horizontal and Vertical:
  • Minimum gap:
  • Aim at the actual corners for Linear. Missing a corner changes the reading.
  • Clear between measurements with Escape. Use Gap for object-to-object clearance.
  • Compare with measure-practice-check.png after recording your own readings.

Explained answer

Width 60 mm; height 80 mm
Those are the practice rectangle's horizontal and vertical spans.
Diagonal 100 mm
The two perpendicular spans are 60 and 80 mm. Their diagonal is 100 mm. Horizontal reads 60 mm and Vertical reads 80 mm.
Minimum gap 30 mm
The neighbor starts 30 mm beyond the large rectangle's nearest edge. Gap finds the closest clearance, not the distance between your click points.
  • measure-start.lzrproj

Demonstration geometry. Width 80 mm, height 60 mm, gap 20 mm.

  • measure-demo-check.png

    Illustrated demonstration answer readings.

  • measure-practice-start.lzrproj

    Independent geometry with different dimensions.

  • measure-practice-check.png

Illustrated practice readings: width 60, height 80, diagonal 100, gap 30 mm.

Answer images show temporary readings. There is no second native answer with permanent dimension lines. The tool can also drag a line, but this lesson uses two clicks. Keep the supplied geometry unchanged.
