Linux startup or blank window
Investigate AppImage rendering failures and collect native startup diagnostics.
If Beam Bench closes during startup or opens a blank window, first check the installed version. Version 0.2.15 corrected AppImage runtime-library conflicts that could produce EGL_BAD_PARAMETER on Kubuntu and other distributions using newer Mesa drivers.
Check the current package
Download the current Linux AppImage from the Beam Bench website. Use the package for x86_64 Linux and follow installation instructions. Keep your existing project files.
A working desktop graphics stack and the required system libraries are still necessary. A packaging fix does not guarantee every distribution or driver combination will work.
Collect the startup log
Beam Bench records early GTK, WebKit, EGL, and Rust startup diagnostics in a native log. If the embedded interface fails, the native error dialog shows the log location and can open its folder without needing the web interface.
Record the app version, distribution, desktop session, graphics hardware, and the error. Include relevant startup-log details in your report. Avoid posting unrelated personal paths or system information publicly.
Separate startup and serial problems
A blank window is different from a serial permission failure. If the interface works but the laser port cannot be opened, use Linux serial permissions and Connection troubleshooting.
Do not change laser firmware settings to repair an application startup failure.
