Creation Toolbar
Vertical strip on the left edge of the workspace. Hosts every tool that creates or edits geometry.
The Creation Toolbar is the home for everything that puts geometry on the canvas (or modifies its nodes). It runs vertically along the left edge of the workspace.
Buttons
Each button activates a tool. Clicking a button while the tool is already active does nothing.

Layout
Vertical strip, left edge of the workspace. Always visible by default. Width is fixed.
The Select tool is the default, pressing Esc from anywhere returns to it.
